  • More than 1,800 exhibits have been seized and upwards of 18,000 photographs were taken during the months-long forensic examination of alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur’s Thorncliffe Road apartment.  The process that began in January and included other crime scenes and vehicles has been the largest forensic examination in the police service’s history.  The police have now turned over the apartment to the building’s property management while the investigation continues.  McArthur is charged with 8 counts of first degree murder in the deaths of missing men, some of which were connected to the city’s gay village.

  • As the election campaign rolls on…  NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is campaigning in Toronto, starting with a stop at a childcare centre before visiting a restaurant today.  PC Leader Doug Ford will be making a morning announcement in Oakville before heading to Mississauga where he’s to tour Fielding Environmental and attend an evening rally.  Liberal Leader Kathleen Wynne is scheduled to make an announcement at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Mississauga before heading to Kanata, where she’s to speak at a dinner.

  • On the federal side, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be back in the U.S. pitching the benefits of free trade today.  As a target date to complete negotiations for an updated, North American Free Trade Agreement looms later this week, Trudeau will kick off a three-day trip with a commencement speech for New York University at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.  It will be the second time this year an audience of American students will hear from Trudeau directly on why the Canada-U.S. trade relationship is so critical for both countries and why NAFTA needs to be salvaged.

  • North Korea cancelled a high-level meeting with South Korea and threatened to scrap a historic summit next month between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un – over military exercises between Seoul and Washington that Pyongyang has long claimed are “invasion rehearsals”.

Say What?!

  • If the sight of a cute puppy makes your heart melt and can cause you to lose hours scrolling through pics of dogs in costumes on the internet, you’re certainly not alone. According to a new study, it turns out there’s actually a SPECIFIC AGE at which dogs are most attractive to us humans.  The study, published in this May’s Anthrozoös: A Multidisciplinary Journal of the Interactions of People and Animals, revealed that 8 weeks old is the age when people find pups most attractive. Even more interesting, that’s the same time when a mother dog leaves her puppies to fend for themselves, and when they’re most vulnerable.
